Entry: "Every Day Is Like A Vacation"

Designer: Amy Britton, CKD

Dealership: Artisan Kitchens Inc.

The rest of the story ...

The homeowner purchased a house in a great neighborhood that needed some serious TLC. The home was plagued by a bad layout, poor lighting, and a rabbit warren of rooms with no access to the backyard. The kitchen was a high priority!

The homeowner ultimately wanted to incorporate a lot of full-size appliances, including two dishwashers, with seating for a crowd so the kids could have lots of friends over. Amy needed to work around a brick fireplace that had to stay. She also needed to add direct access to the backyard as the family planned to add a pool.

Amy added pantry units on either side of the fireplace for additional storage. The family gained a small dining area at the end of the expansive island as well. The biggest challenge that Amy faced with this design was establishing good functionality while keeping the space from looking like an appliance showroom. Amy and the homeowners are both so happy with the end result. They love the white with navy punctuation!

The homeowners love the efficiency and the improved flow - keeping the cooks on one side of the island and foot traffic on the other. They also love to entertain so the communication between the kitchen, the family room, and the outdoor pool area is so appreciated.
